We were asked to write a blog about our expectations of our mission trip.

I expect…
  • to struggle with dying to self every second of every day!
  • to weep more in 11 months than I have in the past 26 years.
  • to fall in love with my new family and wonder how I ever did life without them.
  • to eat and drink substances that will make me want to vomit.
  • to experience one of the top ten best years of my life.
  • to “miss” like I’ve never missed  before.
  • to never have alone time.
  • to discover parts of myself I never new existed – good and bad.
  • to see the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen, and the the most joyful.
  • to be stretched beyond what I think I can cope with.

I hope…
  • to vividly experience the Presence of the Holy Spirit.
  • to laugh more in 11 months than I have in the past 26 years.
  • to loose all sense of time and space and begin to think eternally.
  • to be shown my gifts and calling.
  • to witness dozens… HUNDREDS of people from all different nations crying out Jesus’ name in surrender
  • to make the most unlikely person smile and feel unconditionally accepted and loved.
  • to be a more loving, passionate, and intentional Christian, friend, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, cousin, employee, mentor, and neighbor when I return home.
  • to be an encouragement to my teammates in their time of need and vise versa.
  • to step up, ask for courage and perseverance, and do my part in The Great Commission.

I know…

“God is able, through His mighty power of work within us,
to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Ephesians 3:20 (New Living Translation)
