I absolutely loved my time in Kyrgyzstan! Otherwise known as, the country of “love and mountains”. The views in this country were fairy tale like and magical. We were surrounded by greenery and mountains on nearly every angle and wild horses roam free. This former Soviet country is nestled right in Central Asia. So, the people are beautifully Asian looking and speak Kyrgyz and Russian. It’s an interesting culture. I loved it so much!!
It was my first month team leading, which was pretty cool. Our days were pretty packed. We spent our mornings as a team doing studying and speaking to the Lord together, then taught English all day, had dinner together every day, and held a couple of different events. One was a “Beauty for Ashes” event and the other was a Testimony night.
The people here were so curious to know more about who we serve and why we came. I had so many wonderful conversations with the students!
On our testimony night in particular, I had the opportunity to share my story openly with high school and college kids. As I was sharing, I noticed there was a young man sitting at the end of the table. He kept his eyes fixed on me the entire time. After I finished sharing, he had loads of questions to ask me about how my life has been changed. I told him I’d meet him afterward to talk.
So I did. We talked for a long time. After an incredible conversation, I led him into that commitment to follow our dad. The joy on his face was absolutely contagious. I told him there’s a party in heaven because of his decision to follow. I love that I was used as an instrument to share with this beloved dude who is now a Son. I love that so dang much!
Kyrgyzstan was absolutely incredible. 😀
