Yesterday was my last day as a Packaging Engineer with Square D. The last week some of my co-workers gave me the new nick name “short timer”. If you are unaware of what this means let me give you a little profile of my co-workers and see if you understand. The majority of them are men over the age of 45(sorry guys, but you know it’s true) with past military experience. I was clueless of what “short timer” meant and finally got the explanation that it referred to a military enlistee at the end of a tour.
It’s quite bittersweet leaving the company that initially brought me to Lexington. My life has changed in so many ways from those first days two and a half years ago. I have grown to really appreciate my co-workers as we have worked through projects that have been frustrating at times, but rewarding at others. There is no question I will miss my lunch buddies. Playing cards, Spades to be exact, is always one of the highlights of our days.
Isaiah 43:18-19
18
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
This passage in Isaiah is an encouraging and uplifting life verse. However, in this regard I am not leaving former things that were terrible as often that’s where I’ve been. My fond memories will remain as so, but the exciting promise is that God is doing a new thing and to take ahold of it I must not dwell on what I’ve left behind. I am all in and can’t wait to see how His ministry springs up in my life!
