5 countries.. 4 airplanes.. 30+ hours spent in an airport.. 2 days.. we made it to Zimbabwe folks!!! Wow travel was long and exhausting but I’m so happy to be in this beautiful country. We got to the airport to a beautiful rainy season storm! Thunder clapping all around us, we had to race to get ourselves on the overcrowded bus (Africa for ya). We spent our first night in a beautiful hostel. After that we took a 6 hour bus ride into Bulawayo to meet our hosts. This month my team is living at a back packers lodge. It’s a very beautiful place! We are so blessed this month! Our hosts are Adam and Vicki, they are both from Zimbabwe and South Africa but lived in the UK for awhile. Our ministry this month is all sorts of different things. We do bible studies, pray at hospitals, worship nights, soccer, parties, you name it!
We are so excited for this month and know the lord will move in some miraculous ways!!
Let me tell ya about one of our first nights in Zim. We get to a girls college night, it was about 50 girls and our team. Out of the blew we are told to give a little talk, so yeah we all just walked up and spoke for a bit. Afterwards we worshiped… i dont know if I’d even call it just worship. We basically praised the lord like there was no tomorrow. Picture this: you in a room with 60 people, but it’s really just you and the lord. Your arms are stretched wide and you’re jumping up and down. You had no energy going into the evening but the holy spirit gave you more energy than you could imagine. You are praising the lord so much you start not really knowing what’s going on around you. The world basically stops and it’s you, music, and your Jesus. Your heart is pounding out of your chest, you feel sweat dripping down your back. You sing and sing and sing and dance like you never thought you would before. You fall to your knees, your arms stretch wide to the heavens, your eyes start to tear up with how beautiful the spirit around you is. You and 60 others praising your Jesus. In that moment nothing else matters but the lord. That’s how my night was. Probably some of the best worship ever. The lord moved.. moved more than ever through that place the other night. It was an amazing experience. Afterwards we prayed and did open mike. Girls came and shared testimonies and songs that the lord has laid on their hearts. The whole evening was one of the best nights I’ve maybe ever had. Seeing the lord in that place made me realize how sweet being here is. How no matter what is going around me that he is all that matters. Many more nights like that to come..
Today’s ministry was a little different. The girls met up with the girls from another team and went with one of our hosts to the hospital. We worked along side Baby Helpers, which is an organization that gives care packages to woman who have premature babies. We got to the hospital and sat there holding them. I have never held a baby that small in my life. My heart filled up while looking at the beautiful child the lord made. Her tiny little fingers wrapped around mine, a little smirk across her sweet face. It was a precious moment. These babies are children of the lord, im confident they will grow to be beautiful men and woman for him one day, lord willing.
The rest of the day was more chill, we got to rest. Our weeks to come are full of exciting things. The lord is moving in Zim. Thank you my Jesus 🙂
Love from Zim
