Public school or Christian school? As a Christian adult, whether you have children yet or not, that is a subject of debate in the Christian culture of America. Some vow never to send their children or future children there. Others say public school builds character. When buying a house with children in the picture, most seek out information on what are the schools like in that area. In my college town, there at least four Christian schools, and even more in my hometown of Lancaster, PA. Regardless of whether you choose public or private, there is choice. It’s awesome that there is a choice.
A conversation with our ministry host’s wife Eda (the pastor’s wife), changed my perspective on why we have been painting for 5-6 hours a day at this new kindergarten. Eda is a very kind and warm-hearted woman. Her passion for her and her husband’s ministry is so undoubtedly evident. She told me many things in our conversation. First, that this kindergarten is the FIRST Christian school in all of Albania! Second, that she has had this vision in her mind and on her heart for the last TEN YEARS and that her vision is to eventually have a Christian school with all grades. She has worked in schools and in social work in Albania, and has seen how some of the young children are mistreated by the non-Christian teachers. God has brought this vision to fruition slowly over the past ten years and her and her husband have been patient and fervent. After this past school year, she quit her job at a school to focus on opening a kindergarten.
As they are so close and plan to open in just a few weeks, it has been very difficult. In Albania, finding a Christian kindergarten teacher is very tough. It is also hard to find a Christian teacher internationally, because she has few contact in the United States. She did find the one Albanian, but just last week she just backed out due to personal circumstances. Now she is searching and praying for a teacher with experience, either Albanian or international to come as soon as possible. She is praying and trusts that God will provide.
It really spoke into my life that she is so calm when there are only a couple of weeks left in August and she does not have a teacher. I would be in total panic mode if I were in her shoes. Also, in my mind immediate thought was why wouldn’t she just find someone in the United States, but then I realized I have next to no contacts outside of the US, so why would she have a lot in the United States. Despite how crazy big her need is, I am reminded how crazy big our God is. God has continually shown me that throughout my life. I know that God will provide for Eda and the Pastor. I know that God will bless this vision that He has given her. Please pray for Eda and the kindergarten. Pray that God will provide a teacher within the next two weeks, or at least one who can commit a good amount of time to teaching here. So yea, I’m not JUST painting murals at a kindergarten. This is Kingdom work. I know that many young souls will hear about and get to know Jesus there, and Jesus is forever and the BEST thing that will ever happen to you!
FUNDRAISING: I still have $3,300 left to raise until I am fully funded for the year.
