Hi all!
Here is a little bit about me and why the World Race:
I’m an Australian living in a wonderful community in Toowoomba. I’m a daughter, sister, Aunty, friend, colleague, leader of a homegroup and most importantly a follower of Jesus. I have a heart for others and serving and mission work has been such a valued part of my life.
I’ve been working as a social worker for a foster agency for the past year and as much as I appreciate my work, it does not make my heart come alive and God has been leading me towards something more, to go out of my comfort zone and to go deeper with Him.
Originally I thought I would go to Bible College next year and have been exploring and praying for some time about where to go, what to study and so forth. I found a Bible College in America that I liked and was keen to go, however, I found out that they do not support international student visas. When this door closed I was overwhelmed about looking at other possibilities and unsure of where to go next. I had some time off work to clear my head and spend some time with God seeking what was next. I was finding my motivation was low and was scrolling through Facebook one day (funnily enough) and came across the World Race. I have been following them the last 4 years on Facebook as I heard about them from some friends from my very first mission trip. However, I never really noticed their posts or explored them further until that day. I decided to check out their website and as I was reading through their values, what they do and the routes available, I felt God stirring in my heart and became very emotional (which is usually an indicator for me that God is leading me in a certain direction- as I always make big decisions with many tears- just another fun fact). Through reading more about the World Race, I was questioning God if He wanted me to explore this next year instead of Bible College. I sat with it for a few days, praying and talked it through with family and some of my trusted friends. I could not shake the World Race from my mind and decided to apply and let the application determine whether it was a go- and well I was successful! Praise God! I want my faith to be active, I never want to just learn and not apply. Bible College will most likely be on the cards in the future. However, God has graciously opened this door with the World Race to actively be His hands and feet in these nations around the world.
My route is an expedition trip through 11 countries in 11 months, starting in August 2018. We will be serving throughout the 10/40 window of the most unreached nations in the world. My countries include: Spain, Morocoo, Jordan, Israel, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and China. I am so excited to serve throughout these countries in whatever way God has in store for us and to share the gospel of Jesus in places that desperately need Him.
Please partner with me in prayer. This will be a challenging adventure and I need your support to further Gods Kingdom.
Being an Australian applying for an American based mission program, I immediately had hesitations. Mainly the financial side was what scared me. The amount that needs to be raised is in US ($18,700) and converts to be significantly higher in AUS (approx $24,000). God has been so encouraging in affirming me that He is my provider and I wholeheartedly believe He will make this possible and I am thankful for the supports God has placed around me to enable this. I am believing in faith that I will raise the money needed, so please prayerfully consider donating to this trip to enable me to Go and make disciples of nations.
Continue to follow this journey as God prepares me for this trip and sends me out.
Much love, Talia x
