It’s that time yet again. Welcome to meet my team part two! During my time here in Costa Rica I have gotten the chance to spend some time with the sweet girls of Salt and Light. This team holds such a special place in my heart and I even get to call a few of them my roommates. I have had such a joy getting to know them and I am so excited to share a little bit about them with all of you!

 Abby

Abby is just about the cutest. Her heart is so tender and pure. She loves others so well and feels so deeply every person (and dog) she comes across. She always puts others before herself and will do just about anything to maintain peace and harmony in a group. She carries a lot of wisdom and such a deeply rooted desire to grow closer in intimacy with the Lord that she pushes me towards growth. Check out her blog at abbylokey.theworldrace.org.

 Brittany

Brit immediately grabs the attention of every person as soon as she walks into a room. She is always radiating the Lord through her words, actions, and constant joy. She has such a pure heart and loves with one hundred percent of who she is always no matter the person, their past, or their beliefs. She also knows how to have a good time and is always making me laugh. Check out her blog at brittanycarson.theworldrace.org

 Cierra

Cierra is LIGHT. She is full of energy and positivity that comes directly from the Lord. She loves the sweet kiddos at ministry with all of who she is and serves them so incredibly well. She always sees and calls out the goodness in people, honestly SUCH a great quality. I love watching her dig towards deeper intimacy with the Lord as she begins this journey, I am already watching it be so fruitful. Check out her blog at cierracordak.theworldrace.org.

 Kenzi

Kenzi carries such a depth to her. I feel like every time I have a conversation with her I walk away wiser and challenged towards growth. One day in her future, I see her standing in front of a crowd preaching the gospel with such power and authority. She also has a way of finding the positive in just about everything, and she is never afraid to express where she truly is and what she is feeling. Check out her blog at kenzijohnson.theworldrace.org.

 Katie

Katie is my girl!! She has such a good head on her shoulders and will do anything and everything that is placed before her with a smile on her face. She is so great at capturing moments at ministry and in everyday life through photos. She carries such a peace around her and is so easy to talk to. I actually had the honor of baptizing her at training camp, and it has been so cool to watch her walk into that renewed self as she pushes into the Lord so fully. Check out her blog at katieericks.theworldrace.org.

 Alex

Alex is the mother hen of this team (like I said, every team must have a team mom haha). She is constantly making sure everyone is taken care of and doing well. She is always radiating the joy of the Lord through every situation and has a way of making everyone feel both welcome and loved. I can see a deep-rooted hunger in her for more of the Lord and I can’t wait to see how He uses her heart to seek out His people. Check out her blog at alexwest.theworldrace.org.

 Acacia

Acacia is so incredibly good with the little kids we spend everyday at ministry with. She is the first to interact with them, make them laugh, and snuggle them up. She also carries a whole lot of deep-rooted wisdom that comes from her intimacy with the father. From day one at training camp up until now, I have always known that she had her own personal relationship with the Lord and it is beautiful to watch that flourish in everyday life. So here are the amazing women of Salt and Light. I am so incredibly eager to continue to get to know them better over the course of the next couple months and the rest of our lives. Here in Costa Rica, we are serving deep in the slums of Las Tablas, Costa Rica. The ministry is surrounded by gangs, violence, drugs, alcohol, and people so in need of a hope and peace that can only come from the Lord. It is truly an amazing opportunity to serve His people.

Our typical day has looked like playing and building relationships with some of the sweetest kiddos despite the obvious language barrier. We jump rope, teach English, give piggy back rides, color, play soccer, pick up trash and just spread the love of the Lord to those that need hope and love so badly.

Bella Flor is the incredible director/founder of this ministry. She serves such a vital role in the community and honestly, without her ministry the community wouldn’t be where it is today. Her ministry is a safe haven in the midst of chaos. Her ministry is a shelter for sweet kids who can’t consider their home a safe place. Her ministry is where the boys and girls can come for a meal they may not otherwise get. A place where the kids of the community can just be kids for a few hours. The Lord has been so faithful through her journey and because of that she can reach the future of this community and push them towards the Lord and away from the gangs, violence, and drugs.

Honestly, I feel incredibly honored to serve alongside the incredible women of this team in this community. The Lord has and will use them in such a big way as they continue to push into this ministry over the next couple of months.

Thanks for reading and keeping tabs on my journey! Love you all and be on the lookout for my last “meet my team blog” which will be coming your way soon!!
