As I have started reflecting on my time in Costa Rica, I thought, what better way to share about my experience than to share about the group of people I spent it with? Gap Q is so special to me and I want everyone to know how special they are! So, here it is, a letter I wrote to my dearest Gap Q.
Gap Q,
This season spent with you is a season that I will forever hold near and dear to my heart. It didn’t always go as I expected, but it blew all expectations I carried in out of the water. I came in to serve you and you served me. I came in to love you and you loved me. I came in to lead you closer to the Lord and you did the exact same for me.
I am forever thankful for this season spent with you all in Costa Rica. I am thankful for the early morning devotions and late night chats on the kitchen floor. I am thankful for the Monday night worship sessions and Friday Fun nights where my rapping career began ;). I am thankful for the long days of ministry that ended in huge family dinners. I am thankful for Sunday morning church that took place in our very own living room. I am thankful for the many times you picked lice out of my hair. I am thankful for all the laughter (there was so much of it haha) and memories. I am thankful for the amazing God stories and constant support. I am thankful for your constant intentionality and love. I am thankful that I now have 52 new real life friends.
When I look at you all as a squad, I see a group of people who constantly hungers for more of the Lord. Over the past 3 months I watched you all ask hard questions and intently listen for what the Lord had to say. I watched you discover a new found love for scripture and prayer. I watched you discover new qualities of the Lord and new parts of your identity. I watched you walk into more confidence and boldness. Your hunger for more will always end in new discovery and more intimacy. Keep hungering. Keep digging deeper.
I know you guys hear this all the time, but I also see a group of people who loves without limits or boundaries. You radiate the love of the Father and through this draw others in. You make people feel welcomed and comfortable effortlessly through this love. You love fiercely and boldly. Never underestimate the power this love holds.
Gap Q, you all are warriors for the Kingdom. You understand the urgency of spreading the Gospel to the nations and you are answering the call. When you said “YES” you meant it and that is so evident in your actions. Don’t lose the “YES” you have carried in your spirit to this point.
As you continue on the South Africa, Thailand, Myanmar, and life I will be praying that the Lord brings you new revelation about who He is and who He has created you to be. I will pray that He opens your eyes to the things that break your heart the most and cultivates your passions. That He allows you to work alongside ministries that make you come alive, but that it isn’t all easy. I will be praying unity over your teams and squad.
You all inspired me beyond belief in this season and I am so eager and excited to carry everything you have taught me into this next season at home. You will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for loving me so well and allowing me to serve alongside you. I feel more than honored to know each of you! Know that I love you all a lot and you are in my thoughts and prayers often! I’m always here for you!
