During the first month on the field, I was learning to be VERY appreciative for the way the Lord has created me!

It’s in the little things…

Gracias Papá for my adventurous tastebuds.

They are not picky AT ALL when we get strange looking food; instead my tastebuds say, “Bring it on!”

Gracias Papá for gifting me with a high metabolism.

It has been helpful when I offer to finish my full squad-mate’s plate because we want to be respectful and not waste any food given to us.

Gracias Papá for my strong stomach.

It has held its own through the bumpy bus rides or as we ride in the back of a truck (Shhh! Don’t tell) up and down the mountain roads.

Gracias Papá for my enduring muscles.

They have carried me up and down those steep streets as I walk to share God’s love, pray, or run in the mornings up and down on the already over-elevated city of Medellín. The last Friday of ministry alone I got over 120 flights of stairs on my fitbit.

Gracias Papá for my long legs.

With all the steps we have climbed, You were very thoughtful to give me legs that can skip every other step so it seems I only have half as many to climb.

Gracias Papá for my dry scalp.

Yes, even this is a blessing when the Lord calls me to love on these kiddos who may possibly have lice in their hair. I still take precautions, but the lice are less likely to stay long on my head.

Gracias Papá for my advantageous Broca’s area of my brain.

So thankful that I learned the bit of Spanish that I did! And thankful that my brain is remembering how to say these words as I worship in Spanish, speak to the uber driver, or tell someone I meet on the street about the Lord and what He is doing through us this month.

All in all, gracias Papá for giving me your loving heart.

Gracias Papá for helping me see through your compassionate eyes.

Gracias Papá,

For I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

(Dancing with my little, Colombian friend… no music needed, he just loves to dance)

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
