Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
Psalm 62:1
Click HERE and listen to this song as you read…
So much to do in so little time, it’s a crazy life
It’s ready, set, go it’s another wild day
When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel you say just
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breath
This song has rung true for me especially in the last month. It was a constant push to get my list of to-do’s done before the new year, cleaning out my classroom, buying last minute necessities for the race, saying goodbye to my friends and family, etc. Not to mention preparing for and celebrating Christmas, my brother’s birthday, New Years, and my birthday all within the last week before launch! So much to do in so little time and the stress was definitely on the rise.
Breathe
Finally! The morning of January 3rd came and my mom, Levi, and I piled our stuff into my Nissan and headed to Atlanta for launch (where my dad and Robbie met us later). I thought things would finally settle down once I detached myself from my crazy life at home. Well, that’s not exactly what happened…
Launch was absolutely amazing with finally seeing my squad again, getting all the hugs, and all the faith-filled sessions to prep us for our 11 months. I’m also super excited that the Lord called me to be a team leader for these first 5 months. I am so honored to have the team and the squad that I do, so supportive, loving, and on fire for God. However, those 4 days were FILLED with back-to-back sessions. ‘Twas like drinking water out of a fire hydrant… just like training camp.
Sunday night I didn’t sleep. We packed our bags and headed to the airport about 3am Monday morning. First travel day and already so many of us were regretting those extra pairs of pants we packed and the extra soap or toothpaste that seemed so weightless before adding it to the bag. I think I was carrying nearly 70lbs with my big pack, daypack, and carry on combined. Phew! Our travel days were long… we had a layover in Miami for 15+ hours, a couple bus rides, and a total of 3 flights.
Just breathe
While in the airport with nothing to do for 15 hours but sleep, eat, and wait… The Lord began speaking to me about what a blessing moments like that were. I was tired, easily frustrated, and my mind was still racing. But in that moment, God was giving us space to breathe. Yes, we were all ready to get into Colombia and get started on our ministry for which we’ve been planning for the last year, but we also needed to take a moment to catch our breath. Travel days are hard, but I’m thankful for the time that it allows us to spend talking to the Lord, take a step back from our crazy lives, close out one chapter and prepare our hearts for starting the next.

Alas, about 36 hours later, we finally arrived at our host’s ministry site! Besides a few mishaps (including dropping my phone in the airport toilet… yes, I wasn’t even out of the country yet -_- but praise the Lord my case was protection enough and the “liquid” didn’t get inside the phone), the Lord blessed us with a pretty good first travel day.
Thank you all sooo much for your prayers during our traveling!! Most of us got a little sleep on the short flights or on the floor of the airport, but not much more than 5-7 hours in three days. ‘Twas rough fo sho. But when we finally arrived, we had time to rest and recuperate before the next GO TIME!
In the last two weeks, we’ve been part of soo many ministries, lots of worship and services, fantastic prayer sessions and even got to see people healed and join the family through Christ!
It will be a crazy busy year, that’s just the life I’ve chosen right now. But I know I just need to keep in mind that even through the craziness, I can take a deep breath, remember that the Almighty God, King of Kings, and my Loving Father is on my side… and to really use those moments He makes space for me to just breathe.
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
