Fundraising I feel is always a difficult thing. It always seems easy if I’m raising money for a cause not my own, but when it comes to asking support for myself I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. I’ve always been pretty independent knowing that if I wanted anything through life I had to work my way to it. With a family as big as mine I was raised to be independent and not to be dependent. Some of you will know and some of you do not know but I had an excellent job in North Dakota, which I left behind to start a new venture called by God. I know I want and need to do this. I’ve been restless for quite some time and have always wanted to do service work like this with missions, I just didn’t know how to go about it. In doing this though I can no longer be independent but dependent on God. It’s a learning process but one I’m glad to be on as its teaching me to really trust in him. It’s one thing to say something and its another to actually have to follow through with it. I’m thankful to be on this journey as this is just the beginning. I wont be able to do this alone, so I’m asking for your help through prayers or support. Whatever you feel called to on your own or by God.

Some verses that I reflected on and like with this blog:

Mark ch. 8 vs 34-36, “Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain this whole world, yet forfeit his soul”?

Luke ch. 12 vs 22-24, “Then Jesus said to his disciples: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds”!

Proverbs ch. 3 vs 5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”.

When does the money have to be raised?

  • October 3, 2014 – $3,500 raised and in account right before training camp
  • December 19, 2014 – $7,500 raised and in account right before launch in January
  • April 1, 2015 – $11,000 raised and in account 3 months into the missions
  • July 1, 2015 – $16,243 fully funded 6 months into the missions

What will the raised money go towards?

The raised money will be for training camp in October, traveling in and between countries, food, lodging, administrative costs, insurance, etc. It will not go towards my backpacking gear, travel in the U.S., vaccinations, or personal wants. If you’d like to help out with that side of things just let me know!
