…this is not a test!

The World Race.  Not a joke.  I’m pretty serious about it.  For those of you who haven’t had a chance to speak with me in person, you may not realize just how excited and serious I am about this experience.  I want to be very clear that these eleven months abroad, are not meant to be “fun” (at least that’s not the primary focus).  Even though I’m sure we will have our share of fun moments, laughter, and memories.  The point for me, is to forget about me for an entire YEAR, and to focus outwardly on serving others!

Quite honestly, I decided to apply for the World Race because of my lack of direction in life, at the time being.  That was my initial cause.  And I felt that if it was meant to be, God would open the door of opportunity.  And he did.  Now that I am accepted, I can see a whole smattering of other reasons why God has me here.  In general, I believe being on the Race is going to make me a more responsible person.  I will be responsible for facilitating spiritual growth within my team; that’s pretty huge in my mind (and by huge, I mean slightly intimidating!)  I will be responsible for sharing my faith with people around the world.  For sharing my faith in areas of the world that DON’T accept Christianity whatsoever.  I will need to be extremely conservative with my spending and make wise decisions on budget spending for myself and my team.  I will be responsible for my own health and safety in parts of the world that I am unfamiliar with.  I have already begun to take on the responsibility of educating myself about the countries I am going to and the cultures I will be a part of.

This trip; it’s about loving, serving, sharing, challenging, growing, learning, eating WEIRD foods, and changing.  I am beyond excited about this coming year because I know that I am going to change and I am going to be challenged and I am going to have the opportunity to challenge others.

If these things light a fire in your spirit please communicate that with me!  I want to share this experience with as many people as possible.  And I want to be honest about one more thing-support.  I still need it.  A lot of it!  haha  So again, if you are able to support me even just $10, please do!  I still have about $11,000 to raise, and time is going very quickly.  I am confident my needs will be met, but it may be easier for you to know what to give, if you know my specific needs.
