Tis the season to give and receive.  I have been so blessed throughout my life to have friends a family that are fabulous at giving gifts!  (And also have the means to do so.)  Sometimes, these people know exactly what to get me that will just make my heart melt, without me even asking!  However, they are not the only ones that are great gift givers.

I’m finally seeing how God actually does give to those who ask.  You know that phrase/verse in Luke, Ask and you will receive..?  Yeah, I never really got it, because I never gave God a chance to prove it; I wouldn’t even ask him for things.  But over the last few months, since I’ve been asking, he has been providing!  This summer I desperately asked Him to give me a direction for my life—He gave me the opportunity to go on the World Race.  He followed that up by providing me the necessary funding (so far) for me to go (and I fully expect him to continue providing for me in this way)!  When I needed a job this fall in order to cover my pre-World Race expenses, he gave me TWO!  In every way that I have been insufficient, he has been sufficient.

..Luke is pretty clear about how it works.  God is more than happy to provide for us and give us GREAT gifts, if we persistently come to him with our needs.

Luke 11:5-13
10 “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. […] 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
