This month, Pearls of Faithfulness is partnering with YWAM Thailand at the Mahasarakham base. We are living at the base with staff and students.
In partnering with them, we do a variety of things. Our first week, we spent time at the university speaking to students about Jesus and inviting them to come to the YWAM meetings.
Sometimes it was just an opportunity for students to practice English, and other times it paved the way for us to share the Gospel and to pray with students.
On Thursday nights, the YWAM student group meets to worship and to dive into the word. We had the privilege of joining them in this and in being asked to share with them.
We also were invited to partner with the local church through children’s ministry and teaching through Bible stories to the congregation. We were invited to the church to share some of our stories and teachings with them on Sunday.
Throughout our ministry assignments this month, our team has felt that one of our main ways to contribute to the work the Lord is doing in this area is through intercession. We have learned together how powerful prayer is and have counted it a blessing to spend time praying individually and together for YWAM and revival in this area.
This week has included praying over and working on a plot of land that YWAM owns, teaching English to our host’s daughters, and evangelism in different parts of the city. Next week we will go spend some time in 2 villages, partnering with churches there however they need us to.
Our main form of transportation this month has been the “8 baht bus.” This is essentially a pick up truck with 2 benches in the back with an attached covering and steps. As in most of Asia, the rule is you can always fit one more, so Paige and I have fond ourselves on more than one occasion with seats on the steps- it’s become our favorite.
Doing life alongside us this month are some incredible individuals from YWAM who invest their time in making sure we are cared for and that we have someone to translate. They immediately stepped into the roles of big sisters and have become a part of the team.
This month has provided quite the variety of tasks and a lot of time to adjust as a team and to spend time with the Lord. Something that all of us needed. So grateful for the perfect timing and placements of the Lord and the ways he teaches and shows up through that.
Thanks to you all, I am FULLY FUNDED! Your support has been phenomenal and I would not be having these experiences without YOU! However, there are still plenty of opportunities and need to help support me with misc. personal living expenses and funds for me to use to bless the ministries and people I’m working with. The race has proven to require more personal funds than I had intended for ministry wardrobe purchases, equipment, food, and in being able to bless others. Pray about how and if the Lord would have you partner with me in this way! If you are interested in helping me with this, send me a message or you can donate through https://www.paypal.me/SylviaBarrett.
