This month, my team is in Vidin, Bulgaria. It’s in the northwest part of the country on the border of Bulgaria and Romania. Our ministry this month is varied and we have the privilege of getting to know and to work with many different people throughout the city. Here is a little glimpse at what our life here looks like:
One day, we traveled to a nearby village and hiked to the edge of a ravine. This was a location where in 1944, 800 Bulgarians were killed and tossed into the ravine. We spent this day in prayer and worship over the land, remembering those lost and praying for redemption and healing of this land and country.
We spent one morning walking to the river and each filled up a trash bag full of trash and debris that was along the shore. The pastor here fishes often and wanted to bless the fishermen of the community by cleaning up this area.
A few times this month, we will go to the nearby gypsy neighborhood. We share the love of Jesus through songs, games, and just spending time with them.
A couple of times a week, we go to the local park to play volleyball and spend time with members of the church and locals who want to join.
A visit to the orphanage here in town.
We visit a center for at-risk youth. Since it is the summer, there are not many kids but we spend time doing crafts and playing soccer with the few that do. This has been such a good time of getting to know these boys and showing them love and care.
In our free time, we’ve spent a lot of time in fellowship as a team enjoying and embracing this last month together before new teams and a new continent.
