This past month has been a journey. This year I am a senior in high school and that means the pressure is on about the future. I have been calling out to God for guidance through this tough decision. I have felt His pull towards the missions field for over a year now. Not sure if I would get accepted, I fearfully applied to a program called The World Race. With a lot of prayer and trust in God, I have taken a leap of faith in accepting my spot on The Race.

The World Race is a gap year program where I will get to travel to three continents in 9 months. I will be going to India, Thailand, and Guatemala. My team and I will spend 3 months in each place staying in host homes. Each day will look a little different. Some days we will simply be having tea with community members as we connect with them and their families and pray for their needs. Other days we may be hiking to visit people who are not normally reached. Some days may be teaching English at a local school. Although each day is different, the goal remains the same: to share the gospel in unreached areas of the world.

As I begin this journey, I know it will not be easy. In fact I will admit I am a little terrified. However, I am also overjoyed at the opportunity to wake up each morning and have one responsibility of serving my Father in heaven. I could not be more excited to begin my future of serving around the world by being a part of The World Race this coming September.

I would love to ask for your support through prayer. There is no one more powerful than the Lord Almighty, and I will need His strength in order to make an impact. Please pray for each place I will be visiting, the impact I can make in those communities, safe travels and the way God changes my heart through this year.

Finally, I would like to ask for your financial partnership. The cost for me to go is $16,600. This includes the costs of all my flights, food and housing. From now until I leave in September I will be holding many fundraisers including benefit dinners and selling shirts and bracelets. Any support you can offer, whether financially or through prayer, is very much appreciated.

You can donate at sydneywarther.theworldrace.org. Please subscribe to my blog for updates throughout The Race. I am excited to share in this experience with you.
