When I tell someone that I’m going on a nine month missions trip after high school there’s usually a whole bunch of questions. These are just some of the most common ones that I have gotten…
1. Where are you going and how long will you be gone for?
– I’m going to Swaziland which is in southern Africa, Thailand and Nicaragua. I’ll be gone for nine months.
2. What will you be doing?
– This is something i’m not 100% sure what will look like till we’re out on the field. It changes weekly but basically anything that our ministry hosts will be needing. I know, specifically in Swaziland we work with an orphanage so will be teaching English and Bible. Other than that, anything from construction work, teaching, playing with the kids at the orphanage, to helping the locals with any house work and chores.
3. What are you looking forward to the most?
– i’m really looking forward to finally meeting my squad in person and just building those relationships with them and also seeking the Lord in ways that I never thought would happen and I’m really excited to see where He takes me through this journey.
4. What are you most nervous about, going on this trip?
– The thing that I’m most nervous about is getting sick. I know that it’s different like the food and water overseas but I’m just really nervous about it but I knkw it’s bound to happen, but it’s okay, i’ll be fine! Also I’m nervous about how I’m not gonna see my family and friends for nine months because that’s gonna be really hard on me.
4. what will you miss the most while gone?
– I know that I’m going to miss my family and my friends. I’m also gonna miss ice cream and my dog Colby and probably my bed (due to the fact that I will be sleeping on a sleeping pad for the entire nine months:))
5.What are you most excited about?
-I’m most excited to see how I’m going to be changed by the end of this nine months. This is kind of ironic because I used to be terrified of the thought of me being different when I get back but I’ve come to realize that if I come back and I’m not changed at all, then that would be really bad and almost pointless to have even gone on this trip. because the Lord is just going to work on me and change my heart in so many different ways and I’m just excited to see where that leads me.
6. Who will you be witnessing/working with the most?
– I believe will be working with a lot of kids and women in all the countries. Pretty much anyone that we come in contact with.
7. do you have any plans for when you come back?
– The answer to this is currently no. I hope to maybe get called to the full-time ministry while I’m away or maybe find something that I think I would really like to do so I’m just gonna figure it out as I go.
If youve made it this far, thanks for reading! And if you have any questions I would LOVE to answer them all, just comment down below:))
