Hi everyone! I’m at debrief for the next couple of days, which means I have wifi for a few days. Heres a blog I wrote the other but didn’t have wifi to post:
Today I got to experience something crazy.
I never would have believed it if you told me, but you better believe this story because I saw it happen with my own eyes.
So today my teammate Sam and I got to pass out bananas for the kids as a little treat because they had a huge barrel full of them. But the only problem was that more that pretty much all of them were rotten and moldy. I mean like there’s no way we would eat these back home, like as black as the pavement and gushing out banana smoosh.
So the first half of the kids were the younger ones and they got bananas that were semi rotten, not super bad but also not super great.
Then when the older kids came I had no idea what to do because all the bananas left were absolutely horrendous. Just really really bad and I felt so bad to even have to give them these bananas. So I’m handing them out and then an idea pops in my head. More like the Holy Spirit turning the light bulb on. But anyways, my thought was,
“Syd why don’t you pray for these bananas”.
And I was like wait, what. That’s the weirdest thing, pray for bananas to what, get new again?? And then I thought wait. Maybe thats what I need to do. If my God who fed 5,000 men from 2 fish and 5 loaves, He can for SURELY make these bananas clean again. So I prayed
“Lord, these bananas, they’re really gross and not good to eat. Please please please make them clean and new and fresh again.”
And I just kept repeating that over and over again, and I’m not kidding you when I say that as I was continuing to hand out the bananas they started looking newer and newer. As I was noticing this I told Sam to start praying for the bananas to become clean and fresh and she looked at me like I was insane but I told her to just do it and I kid you not, one of the workers came over and reached his hand into the barrel and he pulled out a bunch of 8 or 9 bananas that were completely new bananas and sam and I had just looked in that same spot 2 minutes before that.
When he did that we looked at each other with our jaws to the floor. I almost freaking screamed!!
How insane is that??!?!?!
Like what????
Did that actually happen???
That was one of the coolest things i’ve ever gotten to experience.
