As I sit on this coach bus (that has AC, for the first time in a month, I got AC!) All I can think about is how I have stereotyped Africa. Like so badly. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about lately.
I thought Africa only had dirt and dry dry grass with some rocks and a whole lot of animals. So basically I thought the lion king was all that there was to Africa. Well I’m here to say I am completely wrong.
Yeah, Africa has red dirt, everywhere, and it has lions and giraffes and it has dry grass. There is a whole lot of poverty, but it’s not everywhere. But did you know it has some of the most welcoming and sweetest people I’ve ever met? Did you know it also has the fanciest gas stations I’ve ever seen? It also has the prettiest stars and you can even see the Milky Way from the base we’re staying at. And it has these mountains that will take your breathe away. And yeah, theres running water and toilets, although not everywhere.
Africa also has the cutest kiddos ever. They are very very proud of what they have, even though it might be a shirt that has more holes than actual coverage of the shirt or their shoes are so broke that its been stitched up. They are so proud of what they have, because that’s all they know. They haven’t seen the world where we’re from, where if you don’t have “anything to wear” you go and buy something brand new to wear, instead of wearing your best clothes. I’m just here to say that the Lord has shown me to stop having stereo types for places that I’ve never actually been to and seen.
Abba thank you for Africa. Thank you for the people, the beautiful mountains, the fun snacks I get to try. But Abba thank you most of all for opening my eyes to the things I have been so closed minded towards. Abba I ask that you would bless Africa and bring kingdom here.
