I have come to the realisation that often when people find out that I am going on the world race, a nine month mission’s trip, they want to be able to follow along with my happenings as I prepare and embark on this Journey. My response is always “well, you can subscribe to my blog and you can therefore be in the know.” Here comes my realisation, I haven’t been updating my blog… whatsoever, oops. So here is what’s been happening in preparation for me to leave on the race in September.
Let me take you back to the very beginning… signing up for the race; you pick the route you feel most called to, sign up and proceed from there. However, you may fail to notice the small inscription at the bottom of the website that says, “This route is subject to change.” I just ignored that little tidbit of information and continued, more excited than ever to be able to serve in China, Mongolia, Zambia, Malawi and Ecuador. Sure enough my route underwent the change it was subject to because of various reasons such as entry requirements. As of now (remember, this is still subject to change) my team and I will be going to India, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Ecuador. This wasn’t my original plan, this isn’t what I expected and that’s okay, I am continually learning to drop my expectations and go with whatever God hands me.
Fundraising, slowly but surely is usually the response I give to those who ask how it’s going. After my monthly total is updated in my missions account I am happy to say that I will be past my first deadline of being 1/3 funded WOOOOO. I am blown away and deeply humbled by the generosity that has been shown to me whether it be sharing bits of encouragement, praying for me, donating items to my garage sale, coming to my garage sale fundraiser or setting aside some money for me and this little dream God has given me. Like I said, this is just a quick little update; blogs will hopefully become more and more frequent closer to when I leave and when I’m gone. Here are some ways that you can be praying for me:
- Focus for me and my classmates to finish the year strong and to have minimal stress preparing for our diploma’s
- Fundraising, for me and my squad, it’s never easy so pray for patience and trust and I mean if you feel lead to donate, I won’t complain. 😉 Also, you can track my fundraising at the top of my blog which is super fun. Keep in mind that donations that are tax deductible can take up to 6 weeks to show up, which can be frustrating. Patience is a virtue I guess.
Thanks for reading,
Love Sydney
