I've been slow to write about this amazing experience of getting to see our oldest daughter after being away from us for over 7 months. Getting to see how she's changing and growing in the Lord, seeing her love on the children in her ministry, seeing her thrive without many of the comforts of home, and seeing the amazing team she is a part of.  I've been slow to write because often words just fall short to describe some very deep moving parts of our lives. I know I won't do it justice but these were some of my favorite moments:

– the anticipation of our first meeting
– the thoughtful welcome with roses and notes around my bunk bed, and of course, snot fruit
– observing Syd interacting with the locals with her growing Spanish vocabulary
– crying every night at worship with outstanding music, praise, testimonies, and sharing what God's been doing, all planned, directed and lead by these amazing racers
– getting to know the moms in my room and visiting and sharing with many other wonderful parents
– hearing Len's laughter ring through the hall where we gathered and seeing him connect with the dads (even playing basketball)
– the hope and joy that comes from seeing God at work in so many lives
– beginning dreams of retirement possibilities connected with missions

I am so thankful for our experience in Ecuador and I'm so thankful for what God is doing in Sydney's life.
