This blog is a commentary on a very cool song by Kings Kaleidoscope called “A Prayer”. They are a Christian band, but this song does have a couple swear words. You may not want to listen to it and I totally understand that. This song still speaks to me so much about Jesus and the love He has for us. I highly recommend at least giving the cuss-free chorus a listen. Chad Gardner, the frontman of the band, was asked more about his decision to keep the f-bombs in the song in this interview, if you’d like to know more: http://spirityouallmusic.com/blog/interviews/kings-kaleidoscope-beyond-control
[Verse 1]
Will I fall or will I misstep?
Will I fall or will I misstep?
Will I call You with my last breathe?
Will You be there for me after?
Will I waste inside the silence
Where the fear is f***ing violent?
Wicked sinner thrown to lions
With no hope on the horizon
Will I fall or will I misstep?
[Verse 2]
If I fall or if I misstep
If I fall or if I misstep
If I call You with my last breath
Will You be there for me after?
‘Cause I’m wasting in this silence
And my fear is f***ing violent
I’m a child thrown to lions
Is there hope on the horizon
If I fall or if I misstep?
Verses 1 and 2 show a lot of uncertainty in Jesus and lack of trust in Him. I go through this thought process when I am doubting that God has a plan for my life.
[Verse 3]
Jesus, where are You?
Am I still beside You?
Jesus, where are You?
Am I still beside You?
Jesus, where are You?
Am I still beside You?
Am I still beside You?
Jesus, where are You?
Jesus, where are You?
The repetition. Feeling like Jesus has left me. Not allowing Him to tell me any different.
[Chorus]
I’m right beside you!
I feel what you feel!
And I’m here to hold you
When death is too real!
You know, I died, too!
I was terrified!
I gave myself for you!
I was crucified
Because I love you!
I love you, child!
I love you!
This chorus is my favorite part of the song. It’s so powerful. It’s in Jesus’s perspective. He is s h o u t i n g the truth at me! He is a comforter. He knows pain like no other. He took on the ultimate punishment FOR ME!
When the lyrics “Because I love you! I love you, child!” are sung, the artist YELLS it! His voice cracks! Jesus loves us with an intense, voice-cracking kind of love!!! I just cannot get over that fact. I am in love with Jesus, but it can never be as much as He is in love with me, his bride.
I recommend listening to this song. I believe there is an edited version without the cuss words, if you would prefer that 🙂
No bonus pictures this week because my technology isn’t cooperating with me 🙁
