This blog post is about to be super casual, but I feel like thats how following God should be. Every day, week, or month doesn’t have to have a big defining moment where God makes himself so clearly noticeable that you can’t not see His power and goodness. Recently, I’ve been taking time to see the small things that Jesus has put in my life that just makes it a little sweeter. Here is a little list of the things in my life that remind me of the big man upstairs.
1. When I listen to music that gives me chills or just completely fits the setting I’m in.
2. Going to listen to speakers from all around the world. They share their wisdom and knowledge and I absolutely love to listen to them. Just the fact that the Lord made us so completely different with our own stories to share is so beautiful.
3. My friend Mackenzie. Homegirl just is so patient and selfless. Makes everyone feel loved, including me. I see Jesus in the way she looks at every person and situation with a positive perspective.
4. When I get walked up to my door. Just the fact they want to know I’m safe and get that extra goodbye reminds me of how God is always walking with me through every second of my life.
5. My squad. Already. I have been praying for a strong community for so long and I am so thankful that God handpicked my squad to be in my life. Can’t wait to read back on this is 19 months and see just how much more they have impacted me.
6. When I’m in my room with my Christmas lights on and it’s raining. So much peace. So much stillness. God speaks the loudest in these moments.
7. Wooo here come the waterworks! When anything reminds me the slightest bit about Zambia. I opened my journal and a blank page had a tiny drawing in the corner from a little girl named Ruth. His little constant reminders of the place where I truly found my identity in Christ are what secures my heart in knowing that gap year is a fundamental piece in my journey.
8. My friend Caitlin’s hugs. She shows her love through physical affection which she freely gives to anyone that needs it (whether they realize it or not). I know that God is using her to provide a tangible version of His love.
9. Flowers and plants. Such an obvious sign of His beautiful creation.
10. When people ask in depth questions about my mission. I know that God is stirring something in their hearts that will lead to their own discovery of His plans for them.
