Hello Friend!
My name is Sydney Ellmann and I am a 19-year-old Colorado Native. I grew up in Firestone and graduated from Mead High School in 2018. For me, there was no doubt about what my next steps would be and so I headed to the University of Denver where I sought a degree in International Studies (something that I assumed I would be able to specialize as I went through College) that next Fall. And College was great! What a new experience! My first night at DU, my entire floor went to some parties around campus and I quickly learned that the party-scene was NOT for me. I spent the next quarter getting straight A’s and joining a few clubs around campus, anything to help me make good friends. But nothing I was doing was really working. But I soon realized that God had a plan for me. And boy did he have one!
Starting Winter Quarter, I found myself drawn to a Christian Sorority on Campus: Alpha Delta Chi. From the very moment I started hanging out with these incredible women, I realized that I have found the community and the support that I would need at College. And it only got better from there. I started making happy and healthy memories at College that wasn’t surrounded around the need to party and participate in all the related “college” activities. I also noticed a change in my relationship with Christ. I’ve always been a Christian, but I found a new love for him and his teachings through spending more and more time with this amazing Christian group. I was happy with what God had in store for me. However, my love for schoolwork and the whole idea of a “career” after College became more and more of a daunting decision. I soon found that the only reason why I wanted to stay at college was for ADX. I wasn’t enjoying my major and its required classes and even though I was still getting stellar grades, I wasn’t enjoying the idea of getting a degree for something that I hadn’t yet determined. I felt the need to take a break from school.
The more I thought about this idea, the more incredible it became. So, I started contemplating what I would do with a few months off. Work? Travel? Try some other programs? And that’s when I stumbled upon World Race. Their all girls mission trip to Cambodia and Thailand really piqued my interest and so I started praying on it. And that is why I am writing to you today. I was accepted to join World Race on this three-month mission to Cambodia and Thailand, but I cannot do this venture alone, and would really appreciate any support you are willing to offer me on this venture. To chase my dreams and pursue relationships with people around the world, telling them about the greatest love story of all, I need to raise support. The greatest support I could ever receive is that of prayer. Would you consider walking alongside me through this next season in prayer that my squad and I would have open minds and be willing to step out of our comfort zone to bring light to some of the darkest parts of the world? It is our desire to be nothing more than the hands and feet of Jesus to every person we encounter.
In addition to prayer support, I am needing to raise $6,900 before I leave at the end of August 2019. That total will cover the cost of all transportation, food, housing, insurance and other miscellaneous costs. I’ve had a bit of a late start to the fundraising, but I believe that God has led me to this point and that he will provide for me like he always has. Please prayerfully consider supporting me during my journey. Any amount that you feel led to donate will help! All donations are tax deductible.
There are two ways to financially donate:
- Via my blog [http://sydneyellmann.theworldrace.org] — I will be posting regularly to keep you updated on my journey!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I am so excited for this journey, and it is my hope that you would be excited too. Please consider supporting me! I look forward to hearing from you. God Bless!
With love,
Sydney Ellmann
