when you first held me in your arms,

you didn’t know who i would become,

you didn’t see where i would be going,

you didn’t think of the things i would see

 

when you first held me in your arms,

you did know you were going to love me,

you did see that i would be your little girl forever 

you did think i would be your best friend 

 

the last time you held me in your arms,

you didn’t know how hard it would be to say goodbye

you didn’t see what 9 months without me would look like

you didn’t think it would be so hard

 

the next time you hold me in your arms,

you will know who i have become,

you will see where i have gone,

you will think of how much you missed me
