Well, hey!

My name is Sydney, but people call me Syddog, Squid, Syd-Vicious, or just Syd (I love nicknames). I'm 25, and my current home is in Nashville, Tennessee. I work here as a speech therapist in an elementary school, and I love working with my sweet kids. I grew up just down the road in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have the BEST family in the world. These are my phenomenal parents:

Here is my amazing big sister, Emily:

I went to college at Auburn University, (War eagle!). After graduating from Auburn, I felt called to pursue my graduate degree in speech-language pathology, which brought me to the University of Memphis. I since have moved to Nashville, Tennessee and have lived here for almost 2 years, and I love this city! But, something inside me was itching to do something more.
I have always had a heart for working with children, and I adore my kiddos that I work with everyday. Here are a couple of precious kids I worked with in college at an after-school program:

In the past year or so, I have also realized my passion for working for the less fortunate, particularly the homeless. The Lord has done a LOT in me in the last several months, including showing me specific spiritual gifts and desires that He has placed in me and how He wants me to use those to further His Kingdom. So how did I get to the World Race?
Here's what I know: I want to see the world. I feel called to mission work. I have a passion for working with the less fortunate and loving the broken-hearted. My heart yearns to be a part of big things, to see God move in big ways. So, what more perfect way is there to combine all of these things than by serving a multitude of God's children while I travel the world??

I am beyond excited for all of the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead. I am also nervous to be stretched completely out of my comfort zone in so many ways. But, I believe, that though there may be hard times ahead, there is also nothing but good ahead.
Thank you, thank you, for being a part of my journey.
