Molo, name is Sydney Sample and I am from Little Rock, Arkansas. I am the middle child of 3; I have an older brother, Carter who is married my wonderful sister-in-law, Becca and I have a younger sister Emily, who is basically my best friend. I also have two amazing parents who have not only put up with my relentless pursuit of adventure but have encouraged me through it. I love my family… I am very thankful for them.
From September 2008 to May 2009 I was in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa as an FYM with Adventures in Missions. Living my life long dream of going to Africa completely wrecked me (in a good way). I fell in love with the people of J-Bay and with the warm culture of Africa. I saw glimpses of the Kingdom come to earth and experienced the body of Christ like never before. Then from September to December of 2009 I led a Real Life trip to Swaziland. Yet again, the Lord broke my heart and showed me what love looks like. He has challenged me and has expanded my dreams and I look forward to what else He will do…
I have a passion for the overlooked and the oppressed. I have a fire in my bones for the body of Christ to be active in love and to bring holy justice. During my time in South Africa I worked with a group of street children and they absolutely stole my heart. They revealed to me the heart of The Father and showed me what true love looks like. I will never forget my boys, and they are daily on my mind. I am a firm believer that there is
always hope, and that Christ never overlooks or forgets anyone. I believe that God had freedom for everyone, both the oppressor and the oppressed and seeing the freedom of Christ has changed me. My prayer and my dream is to folllow God where ever He dares me to go, no matter how dangerous, how unconventional or how unexpected it may be.
“I believe in a God of scandalous grace. It is risky, and yet we are people of faith, believing that giving is more contagious than hoarding, that love can convert hatred, light can overcome darkness and grass can pierce concrete. And now He dares and woos me to come and follow, to take up my cross, to lose my life to find it…”
