Okay so I know a big question for a lot of you is, “so what are you going to be doing on the world race?” And honestly, that’s a really hard question to answer. I don’t know what I’ll be doing. And most likely I won’t know what I’ll be doing monthly, weekly, or daily on the world race until it happens.
AIM describes the world race as an opportunity to “serve the least of these” and to “bring Kingdom living” into every community we enter. So however, wherever, we can help out for the month, we’re going to! And that will look different day to day, month to month.
On the FAQ page for the WR, they give an answer to this question. It’s rather broad, but it probably answers it the best I can at this point. So what will I be doing? “Every day on the World Race looks a little different. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for your team, and spending time praying for the community you walk through. Regardless of the pace or the activity, every day will be focused on being a part of God’s kingdom work.”
But again, this is just another verbal explanation. A bunch of words thrown together that don’t REALLY get at the heart of what the race is about. When I first started looking into the WR, I spent hours upon hours watching videos and reading blogs from current or past world racers that they had posted while on the mission field. This videos broke my heart, and they eventually became the medium God used to convince me that this race was the next step in my journey.
So I thought in order to show you guys what I’m asking you to support financially, prayerfully, and through referrals, I can share some of these videos and blogs with you all! So I decided that throughout the week, I’ll highlight the different areas of the world I’ll be going: Central America, Southeast Asia, and Southern Africa. And tonight, we’ll start off with Central America!
Below is a video highlighting a world race team’s month in Haiti. (Haiti will be month 2 for me – February 2015) In the video you can see how their ministry took the form of playing with children, redecorating local community buildings, manual labor, helping with natural disaster relief, sharing the Gospel through preaching, acting out Bible stories, and simply showing the love of Christ to the community.
AHHH! I can’t wait to be in Haiti again 🙂
For those of you who ENJOY reading, below you’ll find a blog written by a 2013 racer that highlights his time in Nicaragua. (My month 4, so exactly a year from now!) He writes about what ministry looked like, the personal struggles/growths he experienced, and what the critters look like in Nicaragua.

I hope this gives you a better idea of what life will look like for me once I’m on the mission field. Stay tuned for what the race can look like in Southeast Asia!
