Four days ago, me and my team of six made it to our house in Guatemala City, where we will be staying for the next two and a half months! When we walked into the home we were welcomed by our host family (who I have already fallen in love with)! Dinora (also known as Mama D) is our host Mom! She is the most loving, enthusiastic, and caring person; and I am so excited for how great of a relationship there is to come! Mafer is her daughter and she also did the world race! She is sweet, caring, and has the best advice for our world race journey that she already lived herself! Unfortunately, she left this morning for London, where she will be working for the next year! It says a lot to have such a hard goodbye just knowing someone for four days, she is an absolutely amazing sister in Christ! Sergio is the younger brother, he is 18 and is in his senior year! He makes sure that we have the best day that we can, and always asks us how we are and if we need anything! Im very excited to gain a relationship with him! Mafer and Sergio’s dad; Sergio is also awesome! We don’t see him much because he works a lot, but when we do he always asks how we are in Spanish and we do our best to answer! Him and our maid Rosaria don’t speak very much english, but I’m excited to work on my Spanish these next couple months, and also help them learn more english! We have a dog Melody who is the most cuddly and sweet dog that is always looking to either lick your face, eat your food, or sleep on you for hours! What I am trying to say is I feel like I am at home! AND I am loving every minute of it! We will be working with a ministry called Mi Arca or My Ark , where we will be working with kids living in the streets and at risk of going to the streets. We have already met some of “The Boys” who live on the streets, and I have loved every minute of it! When we me them for the first time, we were greeted with many hugs that I know melted all of our hearts! Since then we have been there three times, where we just talk to them and love on them! I could talk a lot more about each individual boy that I have met, but I will save that for another time! God is going to do amazing things will the little kids who are in the prevention program, and I am praying that the kids already on the streets will continue to be loved on! Stay posted, as there will be many stories!
