As I pulled into the Walmart parking lot the other day I noticed a woman with a cart full of groceries sitting on the edge of her trunk, struggling to get the items into her vehicle. As I grabbed my things and made my way into the store I felt something pulling at my heart. I write this now and feel completely horrible saying it, but I had no intention of stopping to help her. Why? I’m not completely sure. I had nothing better to do, yet I felt that I was in such a hurry to get in and out that I didn’t have time to spare. I continued to feel a pull on my heart as I walked further so I stopped. When I asked her if she would like some help I could see the relief on her face. I didn’t help with much because she had already loaded almost everything up, but I could tell that it had helped her a little. She explained to me that the walk through the store had left her breathless so she was grateful that I had stopped. As I walked away saying “have a good day” I briefly heard her say “bless you” and immediately knew that the “pull” I had experienced was God. I’m not writing these things to brag on myself, quite the opposite actually. Im writing about this to show the ways that the Lord is moving every day, not only in my life but in others’. I believe that God placed me in this position to show me exactly what he does for us. Because aren’t we all struggling at some point? Maybe we aren’t physically struggling, but mentally or emotionally struggling. The Lord doesn’t look at us and continue on, he stops and helps us through the good and the bad. He doesn’t say “I have better things to do”, he helps us up and shows us that he cares. So in everyday, I hope you find beauty in the struggle and remember that God is on your side through it all.
