1. if it makes somebody else happy, do it.
Whether it be retweeting their selfie on twitter, telling them they look good, or complimenting their eyes, tell that person what you’re thinking. If you have something nice to say, say it.
2. you’re not doing it right if your not making someone else’s job easier.
From putting the dishes away for your mom, to stacking plates for the waitress, to my personal favorite, pulling the bags out to prepare them for the person working register at Walmart. A small thing can make a persons job so much easier and it will only take a couple more seconds for you to do. Do it.
3. fold the clothes/towels straight out of the dryer.
Or they’ll sit in the basket forever until there are several baskets waiting for you with no towels in the bathroom and no clothes to wear. Plus your clothes will get all wrinkly and you’ll have to throw them in the dryer again.
4. make your bed every day.
Now I can’t tell you that I make my bed first thing in the morning but I can at least say that it’s done at some point during the day. There’s something about a nicely made bed that makes you feel productive, plus it makes your room look tidy.
5. find what you love and do it often.
I personally have a hard time finding things that I am interested in, but I know many people who have found something they’re interested in and absolutely love to do it. If it makes YOU happy, do it.
6. don’t care about what others think as much.
If you want to wear that outfit, do it. If you want to join that club, do it. If you’re happy with it and you want to do it, do it.
7. be less afraid to take risks.
You might fail or you might fly but you’ll never know if you don’t do it.
8. smile always.
It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
9. make eye contact.
There is nothing more important than making eye contact when you are speaking, listening or just passing by. Make that person feel seen.
10. Awkward is okay.
You’re going to do some pretty awkward things that will make you cringe looking back on them, but it’s okay. Everyone does something awkward at least once (or 100 times in my case) in their lives. Embrace it.
11. handwrite notes!!!
There is very little that compares to a handwritten note. Sure, an email, text or call works okay but it’s a lot more special to receive a handwritten letter.
12. it only costs a nickle more to go first class (thanks for that one, grandpa!)
Though many things in life are better to buy at a bargain price, it’s sometimes good to treat yourself.
13. if you don’t have confidence in yourself nobody else will.
You are bright, bold and beautiful. Believe it! (Wise words of Ashley Graham)
14. you can do hard things.
Sometimes you will think that you can’t, but it’s so much more satisfying to know that you did.
15. its okay to cry.
It took me a while to figure this one out. Crying doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. Don’t wait until all of your frustrations are pent up inside of you to let it all out.
16. be nice to everyone.
I know, you might not be seen as “cool” for being nice but is it really going to matter in 5 years that you were cool in high school? No. People are going to figure out that you were actually really lame for being rude. Be nice.
17. say thank you. a lot.
When the waiter refills your drink, when someone compliments you, when your mom makes supper, when a friend picks up your pen. Whenever. People like to be appreciated.
18. If you don’t do it, somebody else will.
Take the job, talk to the person, move into that new house. Don’t let someone else do what you have the opportunity to.
19. don’t wait, just love.
Everyday is a new chance to love. To love your neighbor, your grandparents, your siblings or your significant other. Don’t wait until they’re gone to realize you waited too long to love them properly.
