I would like to introduce you to a few people that I get to hang out with on the regular here in Candelaria, Nicaragua. These are just a few so possibly when I get pictures of the others you can meet them too. These pictures are from a day when we didn’t have much to do so we went to town to watch a little league baseball game, we couldn’t find the site so we went got some ice cream.

Carla! This girl caught me from day one. We were taking a tour around the site and she came
up and grabbed my hand and started walking with us. She has a smile that will make anyone smile. She has remembered my name form day one and comes up to me with open arms for a huge hug. She is so beautiful and so full of love.

Kelly! This is Carla’s younger sister. She is usually running around from person to person looking for love. She loves to be held. She is usually giggling and having a good time, another one that just puts a smile on my face when I see her.

Joseph! This is a boy so full of joy, it is hard to even describe. He is always looking for fun, we often have tickle wars. Which one of the first nights after the youth session some of us had a huge tickle war and now they do it all the time! Pretty funny, I guess whatever helps you to open up if you can’t communicate verbally. Anyways this boy is always laughing when we are around, his character is contagious.

Junette! This is a girl that is after sports. We get along well I would say. She is always wanting to play
games and when not she loves to be hugged and twirled around. I would say that is what most of the girls enjoy. I could spend a night just twirling them all and they would have a blast. This is also the girl that whispered in my ear from the last blog post.

Wisemon! This kid cracks me up, he calls me Michael Jordan. He is one who loves to play sports as well, he was the one who invited us to watch him play in the little league games. His team won the last two games and has one more to go! This is a kid full of joy and wanting to hang out and play always.

Marielacy! This girl is adorable. She is quiet but she will talk among the kids at times. She is always eager to hold a hand. As we walked through the city she held my hand about the whole time until we got there, with the occasion pick up and carry. She is so sweet and very well mannered.

All of these kids have a place in my heart along with the rest of the community here. They all have their way of expressing themselves since language isn’t the best way, we work it out. I have found out the best way is just to let your heart talk through your actions. If you feel like you want to hug a kid they are not going to run away, deep down they all want to be loved even if they put on the front that they don’t. They all have a story and have all been hurt in some way, but they are all searching for something. My hope is that they all find it through the actions that our group is portraying and they if they already have that love that it will continue to grow and spread within them.
