Community Outreach is the best.

The ministry we are partnering with here in South Africa is called Impact Africa. Impact Africa has 5 different ministries and I was placed in Community Outreach, which is basically door to door evangelism.

It’s definitely nerve-racking sometimes. Walking up to a stranger, getting to know them by building a relationship with them, and then introducing them to Jesus is not something most people are used to. It can be really awkward. Language barriers hinder conversations, and even when the person speaks English, coming up with something to talk about can be challenging.

But it’s the most wonderful thing I’ve ever done.

Telling people about this Living Hope we possess and the love of Jesus creates a feeling inside of you like no other. These conversations have the power to bring someone to life, to offer them the gift of Christ and eternal life with Him. It can be daunting sometimes, thinking about how if I say the wrong thing, or leave something out, or whatever mistake I make could hinder them from becoming a Christian.

But that’s not true. This isn’t about me. It’s not about what I say. It’s about what the Spirit says through me. I can’t focus on myself when sharing the Gospel, I have to listen to the Spirit and trust Him to guide my words. I have to trust that God will speak in that person’s heart no matter what comes out of my mouth.

I trust Him. I trust that our God is sovereign and that He will touch the lives of these people.

When we go out, we go in groups of 3 or 4. In the first three days, the groups I was a part of led 13 people to Christ. 13 people saved from hell. 13 people who now have a relationship with the creator of the heavens and the earth.

I was awe-struck. God is so good. We now have new brothers and sisters in Christ! God is at work here in South Africa, in Randburg, in the squatter camps, and in Impact Africa. This ministry blows my mind. The staff members are all completely in love with Christ, and their passion for Him is contagious. It wears off on all those around them. This ministry is led by the Spirit and they have fruit that proves it.
