We have arrived!  It has been several days since we arrived in El Salvador.  Let me just share a few bits of it so far!
            * In this first country, they have split our squad up into 4 locations.  My team (team Happy Feet) and one other team will be working near the city of San Vicente.

*The people we are working with, Victor and Sara are SO nice!  It has been SO fun practicing my Spanish with them and other El Salvadorians!  They are both attending the University here.  It has been fun too because they both have a great sense of humor.  Sometimes it is hard for me to joke around when talking in another language, but it has been really great and easy with them!

*Sara told me yesterday that in El Salvador, working is more important than education, but to her, education is more important because she has a dream to start a high school for poor children so they can have the opportunity to learn.  She wants to teach Bible at that school.  I hope her dream comes true!

            * We are staying in a beautiful house—we have running water most of the time, electricity, wonderful tile floors, and the food has been great!

*Today, we practiced a dance and a drama that we will be performing at some point this month.  So ladies, dancing in first country, check!  One down ten to go! πŸ™‚

*The highlight of my trip so far has been walking around the city and talking with the adults and children on the street.  Several of us played some soccer in the streets with our neighbors and a couple of the boys challenged me to a street race.  I don’t think one of them liked the outcome because he is wanting a rematch with me tomorrow at 5pm. πŸ™‚

El Salvador

Some prayer requests:

**Willingness to be open and honest among teammates.  Also, that we would be willing to learn from each other and teach each other.

**That our group will stay healthy!  I don’t get to carry an apple and carrot with me everywhere I go like I do in Omaha. πŸ™‚

**Confidence in our stories and sharing them with others.

**That I will become fluent in Spanish!!  This is more of a joke, but I do think that would be awesome! πŸ™‚

**That I would just be myself.  Sometimes that is hard for me in new settings because I think people will see me different than I really am, or I will try to be what I think they want me to be.  Please pray that I am just me and that I will allow God to teach me and use me.

**That we have and use many opportunities just to show God’s love to people.

Thank-you so much! πŸ™‚

This is my team of 7!  Nicole, Trena, Denise, Chris, Me, Tabby, and our team leader Jamie.  Yes, I know you have seen this picture already, I just don't have other pictures on my computer yet!:)

This is a picture of the other team we are working with this month.  And no, we do not have a Starbucks near us, these two pictures are from training camp.:)
