The way I found out about the World Race was through video blogs by World Racers. So I knew right away that I want to be a storyteller while I’m on the Race, too!

The day before training camp, I had the opportunity to go to the storytelling workshop. Fifty people from all 4 squads came. Heidi, Jenny, and I were the only ones from my squad at the workshop.

The topics they covered included: How to tell a good story, using social media to tell stories, blogging, video blogging (vlogging), and photography.

The last session at the workshop was on video editing, and our assignment was to make a video to practice our editing skills. Heidi, Jenny, and I filmed and edited a one minute video with the prompt, “Why are you going on the World Race?” I was chosen to be in front of the camera. Below is the completed video!

My biggest takeaway from the workshop: God entrusted us with social media and the internet. All the generations before us did not have this opportunity. We must take advantage of all the ways that we can share stories with people, and give the glory to God.

I was also very excited to meet some former World Racers, whose videos I followed while they were on their Race!

The video below is of my trip to training camp and the Storytelling Workshop.

Stay tuned for another blog/vlog soon about the rest of Training Camp!!
