Thank you so much for your prayers for my grandpa and my family. Grandpa passed away on Friday, January 11. He was 93.

God had beautiful timing in all of this. From the beginning, my biggest hesitation to go on the World Race was that I was caring for Grandma and Grandpa (with most of the care going to Grandpa).

I doubted many times, but felt God calling me to this. In September, God answered our prayers and we found full-time caregivers for them, in time for me to go to Training Camp.

Then, the day I arrived at World Race Launch (January 3), we got a call from that company saying they couldn’t care for Grandpa anymore. That was on a Thursday, and they gave us until the next Wednesday to find care for him.

His health was rapidly going downhill. On Tuesday, he needed to go to the emergency room and then was taken to a Hospice house on Wednesday, where he passed away on Friday. We had been praying that he wouldn’t have to live in a nursing home, and that prayer was answered.

I have happy memories of when I was 11 and 12 when we moved to America and I would do everything with Grandpa. He taught me how to do woodcarving, gardening, and to mow the lawn.

Grandpa passed away on National Milk Day, and he was a milkman!
