I started this month annoyed.
I was annoyed that my squad was entering Parent Vision Week and that, despite having been told multiple times that we would not be, those of us whose parents were not coming were with the parents.
I was annoyed that my parents weren’t coming even if I did understand why they weren’t.
I was annoyed that not only were we with the parents, we were expected to serve them.
I was annoyed that it seemed that those of us without parents here were seemingly forgotten about in ministry.
I was annoyed that communication was less than stellar.
I was annoyed that our ministry was office work, even as I was excited for it.
I was ANNOYED.
And that made me not want to invest in this month.
It made me want to check out.
However, our contact kept making that harder and harder because he was all in. He was invested not only in the ministries he had planned for us this month, but in us. He was passionate about getting to know us well and that became obvious from the very first conversation he had with our whole squad. And it is hard to check out when the person in charge is so invested. A person who is all in for you. A person who was so legit, he makes it hard to quit.
So…
This month I get to be one of several “secretaries” or “social media experts” (insert laughter here, I understand) for HOPE Church in Romania. My team will be focused on building awareness for the many projects this church is trying to promote and grow. We also will be participating in their After School Program to help students with homework and to teach them about Jesus.
Personally, I will be focusing on the church’s “Your Kingdom Come” project. This project focuses on building the number of people praying for this church and its ministries. Every day, I post prayer requests on the Facebook page. I pray for the different requests. I check and send e-mails to inform people of this ministry. I try to find new ways to spread the news about this awesome ministry that simply asks you to pray.
And, despite my struggle with annoyance, I am all in.
Stay tuned for more information on other ministries and projects this church is part of!
Until next time!!
