One of the reasons that it took me a long time to apply for the World Race was fear. I wasn’t afraid of leaving home or traveling. I was afraid that there would be no way I could afford the World Race. The Race itself costs more than I make in a year, not including all of the “extras,” such as buying gear, getting vaccinations, and buying more gear.
I had seen the Lord provide money for other people on the World Race. I had seen Him provide money for other missionaries. I had experienced Him providing in abundance for my past mission trips. Missions work aside, I had seen Him provide for my every need–and a good amount of my wants as well. I just could not fully believe that He would provide the money for me to go on the World Race.
When I was in New York City last summer, I wrestled with God again about providing the finances for me to serve on the Race. He responded with Jeremiah 32:26-27. “Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: ‘I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?'” This simple verse was a promise from God to my heart, telling me to not worry about the finances. Yes, on my own strength, I was incapable of raising the money for the World Race. With God, nothing is impossible.
It is with MUCH joy that I am able to announce that I am officially FULLY FUNDED!!! WOOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happens now?!
Any money donated on behalf of me will no longer go to me specifically but rather to the general fund of Adventures In Missions.
If you are still interested in supporting me personally, you are able to do that! I have a personal PayPal account set up to help cover various expenses that I will face in the next few months: needing to buy new toothpaste, paying for a public bathroom (we have only had this happen once so far, but I wouldn’t count it out from happening again), treating myself to the occasional ice cream cone, etc. If I continue to receive large amounts of funding and do not use it all on the Race, I will use it either for travel home after the Race or in the transitional time between the Race and whatever God has next for me, covering expenses like food, gas, and student loan payments. If this is something you are interested in doing, please email me or send me a message on Facebook. Click “Contact Me!” on the left side panel to email me.
If you would rather support a Racer who is still in the process of fundraising, I can help you out! While everyone on my squad is near and dear to my heart, I will only be highlighting a few people in this list. I also will be listing a few people from my original squad. Please feel free to visit their blog, get to know them, and support them as well as you have supported me! To view the rest of my squad, simply click “Meet my squad!” on the left panel.
Team Radiant Vibes:
Alumni squad leaders
These three amazing individuals are spending the first five months of our Race with us. They have all completed their own World Race. They loved it so much that they came back! Their role on the squad is to help us navigate the World Race, pour encouragement and love into all of us, pray for us, believe in us, and raise up new squad leaders to replace themselves. I truly love all of my squad leaders! If they are able to raise enough money, they will be able to come out to all of our remaining squad debriefs. I want them all to be able to come to our debriefs. Months 6-11 will be sad enough without their everyday presence. I can’t imagine not seeing them at debrief!
Former S squad family
Again, this list will not be comprehensive. I know that S squad no longer exists, but we will always be a fam bam. The thought of any of them having to leave the Race early because of financial reasons breaks my heart.
Carlos Lopez (Upcoming September Route)
Norma Cortes (Upcoming September Route)
Thank you again to each and every sponsor who has made this financial miracle possible. Words seem to be a shallow gesture of my gratitude in this situation. I couldn’t have done it without you. Truly, nothing is too hard for God, not even raising over $16,000!!
