Today is 11/11, aka the day that almost every single World Racer posts a blog about either fundraising or something to do with the number 11.
I decided to hop on this bandwagon last minute. Without further ado, here are 11 things that I have learned so far on the Race (no, they are not all serious life lessons):
1.) If your ministry involves working with a church directly at all, you should always have a sermon prepared and in your mind, just in case you have to preach on the spot.
2.) Standing in the rain at night is basically the same as taking a shower. As a bonus, your clothes get washed as well!
3.) People are the same around the world. Cultures change, but people are still people. Treat them with love and respect, and they will treat you with love and respect.
4.) Freedom is greater than fear.
5.) God truly is a good, good Father.
6.) Days go by quickly. Cherish them and make the best memories that you can.
7.) Spontaneous adventures sometimes are the best adventures.
8.) While on the Race, you will sweat more than you ever have before–even if you have an athletic background and have sweat more than you ever thought you could in a practice or a game.
9.) It's possible to live with 54 other people and not lose your sanity.
10.) Mosquito nets come in very handy, except when ginormous cockroaches somehow get under the net. If you doubt me, ask Hannah Jones.
11.) The people who you meet in a lifetime are not random. Every single person can teach a life lesson, if you pay attention.
Happy 11/11!
