I am like a baby sea turtle who has run away from the sea in the complete opposite direction, then ran towards the sea, and then ran in zigzags.  Now I am chasing after the sea with all of my heart.

While running along the beach in Jaco, Costa Rica with a friend on my squad, we saw police and people crowding in a circle.  My heart skipped a beat knowing, somehow, there were baby sea turtles on the beautiful sand.  Running a little faster we approached the police; he handed us latex gloves to let a baby sea turtle chase towards the ocean.

Seventy sea turtles started on a line marked in the sand to chase after the ocean, their home.  Some sea turtles approached the sea quickly and walked in a straight line.  Others started off slowly and then began to quicken their pace.  Another one turned around and went to opposite direction of the sea.  Some ran in zigzags.  Every sea turtle was running their own race to get to their destination which would grant them life, the ocean.

This is a lot like our own lives.  The ocean is Christ.  We are all on our own race.  Some of us didn’t grow up in a family of Christians and started our walk with the Lord slowly.  Others, come to know about Christ early on in life, fall away for a short time, and then return to a relationship with Him.  Some completely walk in the opposite direction turning to false idols and God redeems them to a life with Him.

I didn’t have a personal relationship with Christ until I was 18.  I have ran in many directions, always coming back to Him.  Now, I desire more than anything to train myself to run this race towards Him alone.

No matter if you have never had a relationship with Christ, or you have turned away, or you are slowly creeping along, God desires you to receive a crown that will last forever.

“ Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.  Therefore do not run like a man running aimlessly; do not fight like a man beating the air.  No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others; I will not be disqualified for the prize.”  1 Corinthians 9: 24-27

What does your race look like?
