Seven years ago, I had a dream of serving the Lord overseas. My creative heart imagined every way I could do that. One year I would want to teach people how to read so they could read the bible when missionaries left. Another year, I wanted to provide children Christmas gifts so they could feel the love of Christ through Operation Christmas Child. Another year, I just wanted to work at an orphanage. Other times, I wanted to teach people how to create items that they could sell for profit.
Since the age of seven, even when I was not a Christian, God was pursuing me not to live the typical American lifestyle. In my journal, I wrote how I didn’t want to do what everyone seemed to be doing around me. I desired a purpose. God has slowly been unveiling that purpose He has for me.
These past five months, I have been living in my dreams from the past seven years because of all of you, my generous, faithful supporters. Through your faith, I have been able to build a fence for a future campground for children to go to to learn about Christ in Guatemala, Cook healthy meals for children who have been trafficked as well as their parents, plan a fund-raise event to help kick-start a ministry, teach over 400 students about Christ in remote villages of Thailand and Cambodia, many for the first time.
In all my life I have never been happier. Despite sleeping with crickets that sometimes jump up my nose, my feet never being clean, going to the bathroom in ‘squatty potties’ (a hole in the ground), living out of one bag for a year, and cold showers, I have never felt more free.
Thank you for your financial support. Thank you for your powerful prayers. The past four months, I have learned so much about the power of prayer. I couldn’t be here without you.
I want to encourage anyone who feels God leading them to do something but doesn’t feel as though it is possible. If it is in God’s will, He will make that journey possible in His timing.
