My bible study has been reading and studying John the past few weeks.  Recently we read about how Jesus turned water into wine as his first sign.  At the wedding that Jesus and his disciples were at, the wine ran out.  During that time period, if you ran out of wine during a wedding it was a total social embarrassment.  Jesus first chose to reveal his power and love through simply changing six stone jars of water into the finest wine imaginable.

Christ cares even about the little things such as social embarrassment at a wedding. He chose to change the water into wine to love the bride and groom during that time.  Another key point is that not everyone at the wedding knew Jesus changed the water into wine, only the servants who drew the water knew.  He not only chose to change the water into wine but also kept it only known to several that He was the one who did it.  Otherwise, the bride and groom would still have been subject to social embarrassment.

The reason I am saying all of this is that God cares so much about every detail in our lives.  This past Monday was the first day of school.  The past two years I taught first and second grade.  Now even though I don’t feel called to be a teacher at this point in time, I still absolutely loved my students and miss them like crazy right now.  I wish I could just run through the hallways and hug them all one last time before I leave to Guatemala in a little over a week.

This morning, one of my co-workers told me one of my students was asking about me from last year.  She had her in first grade and I in second.  My co-worker gave me their e-mail address.  This morning I received an incredibly encouraging note from her mother saying that her daughter always talked about my previous mission trips and that she was praying for me on this journey.

I had always desired a different relationship with my students rather than ‘teacher.’ Now God has given me the opportunity to share my stories of this year to my previous student and given me the opportunity to have the relationship I have always desired!

God is so good to care about what seems so small such as me missing my old students or wine running out at a wedding!

John 2:1-12

On hthe third day there was a wedding at iCana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with jhis disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, k“Woman, lwhat does this have to do with me? mMy hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Now there were six stone water jars there nfor the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty ogallons.1 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted pthe water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested qhis glory. And rhis disciples believed in him.
