My uncle once wrote to me that he does not believe in coincidences. He believes God makes everything happen for a reason. This past weekend, I had an amazing conversation with my cousin about coincidences too. You tell me if you believe in coincidences.
Is it a coincidence that…..
*At the age of 7, I wrote in my journal that I didn’t want to grow up living the typical American lifestyle I saw people all around me living. Now I am going to travel to eleven different countries, serve people around the nations, and learn about how other people live besides the ‘American way.’
*A Third grade girl told me to serve children in Africa. She hadn't known that God was already telling me to do that.
*A counselor in college cried in front of me when I couldn’t make up my mind on choosing a degree in education, social work, or religion. She told me that she knew God has something bigger in store for me and I was clinging to control. Now I have been given an opportunity to do all of those things: I can teach overseas the next year, perform social justice, and share the hope of Christ to the nations!
*One day I was doubting if God would really provide for me to go on The World Race. The same night, a girl I met at a cookout had a vision that there was a golden gate over me with God on the other side. She told me God was going to provide all my needs.
*Struggling with fear as to how God would provide for this journey, I met a barista at a coffee shop who prayed over me and spoke all of the words of affirmation I had needed to hear.
*I told my boyfriend before I wouldn’t see him for about two weeks that this time would be a time of God making us rely on Him alone. The next day, I found out my grandfather was about to pass away. Ryan was no longer there for comfort.
*Now here is where it gets even crazier! Two days ago, I had a sweet girl from my squad write on face-book that she felt God leading her to pray for those who were not at the financial deadline of 6,500 they needed to be at by August 18th. I wrote a blog that day about my needs. Yesterday, a friend told me they read my blog two nights ago and felt led to support me to be at my deadline by August 18th!
I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe God loves showing us His presence here on Earth. He loves pursuing us continually. It is just a matter of how often we see Him working. It’s amazing to know that the God of the universe is continually at work in all of our lives!
