I will admit that I have been a skeptic when it comes to divine healing. After my experiences today, I am now a pledged believer that it is real. Our assignment today at launch was to ask God to guide us to someone in the surrounding community who He wanted us to meet. My team prayed for guidance and God spoke through images. My teammate Emily saw an American flag, and with this in mind we set out on a mission. After some time walking and having the “feeling discouraged” chat we decided to pray for a Boys and Girls Club in the surrounding neighborhood. Across the street from the club was a little white house with an American flag. My teammate Emily noticed the house and felt God calling her to it. After she verified this feeling with God (asking the flag to remain still while the wind was blowing, which it did!) she was convinced that the house was indeed correct. Sarah, Emily and I decided to go to the house despite our fears of looking dumb. On the way up to the house we prayed for guidance as we had no clue of what to say, “Hello we are crazies walking by your house and want to pray for you because you have an American flag flying” just didn’t cut it although it seemed appropriate. Having never had just walked up to a strangers house to pray for them I was pretty nervous.  As we rang the doorbell we noticed an “Oxygen in use” sign and cigarette butts lying around. I was thinking “Jack pot!”

A lady named Lillian opened the door and we politely introduced ourselves asking if there was anything we could pray with her about. She informed us that her younger sister is battling Cancer, Diabetes and has Atrial Fibrillation. Her sister was in the hospital for over a month and just got home in May. She has been weak and has been having a very hard time sleeping. On Monday her sister was finding out if her Cancer was pushed into remission or if she needs another round of chemo.  We asked if we could lay hands on Lillian’s sister Elizabeth as we prayed for her. Graciously, Lillian allowed us into her home. When I saw Elizabeth I saw a beautiful woman who looked tired yet hopeful. We took her warm hand and began to pray. I prayed for restored health, a new bed so she could sleep, respite for her caregiver and sister Lillian and for financial concerns. After we prayed we exchanged goodbyes and left.

After leaving, Sarah and Emily felt convicted to get a picture with Lillian and Elizabeth meaning that we would have to go back a second time to their house. Feeling silly I went back with to get the picture bringing along another teammate Brianne to take the picture. When we got to the house again both sisters agreed to the picture and Elizabeth even sat up on the side of her bed. After the picture Elizabeth shared with us that she had knee surgery and since then has not been able to extend her leg greater than 15 degrees. That day I saw her fully extend her leg  She was swinging her leg like a little girl again with no pain at all saying “look what I can do.” Lillian said that she was shocked and scared when she first saw Elizabeth do this for the first time shortly after we left. We all rejoiced and prayed. I was blown away, ecstatic, and fought to contain myself from jumping and screaming. I couldn’t contain myself too long because shortly after we left I was dancing in the street and could not stop smiling!

From being a witness to this healing I believe in miracles, I believe in divine healing and I believe in the power of prayer. God IS a merciful God and answers prayer. He loves his children more than we can imagine and He is always doing a great work within us. I believe God is doing great works through Lillian and Elizabeth. He used them to show me that His healing is real, what a strong bond of sisterhood looks like and how to listen to Him when he is convicting us to do something. I hope you are compelled to research divine healing and begin to formulate your own opinion on the matter. I trust that you will be amazed by the stories you read.
