As a nurse it is my passion to help people. I love being a nurse and find that I can incorporate it in many different types of ministry including caring for my teammates, congregation and the community. I am proud to be a nurse and have been embracing the opportunities that God is putting in front of me to widen my realm of nursing. One of those opportunities was assisting with the operations of a free community eye glass clinic. I worked with a nurse named Lydia and we did blood pressure screenings for everyone coming to the clinic. When community members first arrived we would take their blood pressure, then they would go to the eye glass station where they would read the bible trying on different strengths of correction. Whichever strength gave them the clearest vision was their “prescription.” When they were done receiving the glasses they went to a final station where the message of the gospel was shared with them.

The concept was simple, and through this ministry I was able to understand how even an eye glass clinic could be used for God’s glory. We were able to further serve the community members who came into our clinic by updating their doctors on who had very high blood pressures so that they could be seen. The clinic is just one example of the desperate need of good health care workers in Romania. I am thankful that God has called me here and I know He is just starting to use my knowledge for His glory. If you are a health care worker, I want to urge you to consider a mission trip abroad because God needs your hands, feet and skills in His mission field.
