It has been a long time coming, but it’s finally here! I’m finally writing my first blog post, and I am both anxious and excited to begin sharing with you all the highs and the lows of my journey! It has been 5 months since I knew I would be embarking on this trip to South America, and now I am only 1 WEEK away from training camp! Reflecting on the past 5 months and the process of preparation for the upcoming year, there are so many thoughts that flood my mind: the countries we will visit, the people we will meet, my amazing teammates, what I am going to pack, and God’s goodness in allowing me the honor to be a part of his work in South America.

There is so much to think about that I struggle to put it all into words. My mind seems to think faster than my hands can produce words on the page. I can honestly say this blog has been the most challenging part of this journey thus far. It is easier for me to train mentally, physically, and spiritually, but it has been a struggle to find the motivation and the words to start off this blog. I do know, however, that this is only one way that God is going to stretch me and require me to lean on him in the upcoming year. Committing to this blog is going to teach me to be more vulnerable, to let my walls down, and to surrender to God and see how he uses the words I struggle to write to share stories of hope and redeeming grace. I will do my best to display the realities of my World Race journey, and let you all in on all the great things that God is doing in South America and in my own life over the year.

So, here is my promise to you, my faithful friends and prayer warriors. I promise to set aside my insecurities and doubts about blogging and to give it to God. I promise to genuinely reveal my heart and my thoughts through the stories I share and to let God be my strength and comfort as I try to do so. My greatest hope is that the stories I share will ultimately display the love and glory of our heavenly Father.

Well, if you have made it this far, I can’t express how much it means to me that you would take the time to visit my page, read my blog, and invest in joining me on this trip. Knowing I have an amazing support team helps to make everything easier. So, until next time (by which I mean until I can gather, organize, and write out my thoughts), please continue praying for me and my team, and for South America.

For Christ and his kingdom, let it begin!
