Well, after about 30 hours of traveling, my team and I have finally made it to our first country! I can’t BELIZE it! I first want to say, before I go into a story, THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of those who have supported me and helped me get this far. I not only have $7,346 until I am FULLY FUNDED!
Now, prior to embarking on this incredible adventure, we had a few days in Atlanta at our Launch for some last minute training and sessions. During this time the Lord did something incredible. We had worship a few nights, and during our last worship session, our Squad Mentor (SQM) came up to me and told me the Lord had given her a word for me. She told me He had given her a picture of me, she spoke about leadership, and then she said something I never would have expected. She told me that the Lord was speaking the spiritual gift of prophecy on me, and she prayed it over me there on the spot. At the end of her prayer she said that if I had any words to say to anyone in the room, that I would have the courage to go say them.
Little did she know, but I had felt the urge of the Spirit to go and talk to one of my fellow squadmates during worship the night before. I had wrestled with it because I haven’t ever been the type of person to hear things from the Lord and go and say them to other people, especially not during worship and singing. After I kept saying no, I realized that someone had gone over and was prayer with her, and God told me I had missed my chance. The next night, the SAME THING HAPPENED. I fought against it again and then when I saw someone go and talk to her again, God told me I had missed the second chance He had given me. After that was when my SQM came up to me and prayed over me. At that point, I knew God wasn’t going to let it go and this girl was going to stay on my heart until I talked to her. After looking around the room I realized she had left, and I felt the urge to go and find her, but again, I stayed till the end of worship, praying God would give me the words to say to her. We finished the last song and I needed to go fix my face from all the tears so I walked out of the room and turned the corner and THERE SHE WAS. Mind you I had no idea what the gift of prophecy even meant, but there was no way I was letting her go without saying anything. I ended up stiff-arming her before she walked back into the room, explaining how God had put her on my heart for the past two days, and then prayed for her.
We went back in together and then after the session I stopped my mentor. I told her the story and then asked her what exactly the gift of prophecy even meant. She looked at me with a smile told me the gift of prophecy is simply hearing a word from the Father (for someone) and then obeying what He says to do. It instantly clicked in me. It was never about the words I had to say to my squadmate, or what I prayed about. It was about obeying Him and what He tells me to do. God has been hunting after the “yes” in my spirit and as soon as I gave it to Him I felt instant peace. Sometimes the prayers, the healing, the requests seem not to work, but as long as I obey what He asks me to do, I know I have done well. So He has called on the “yes” in my spirit and I am ready and willing to give it and learn more about the gifts He gave me.
Stay tuned to see what beautiful crazy things He does next here in Belize!!
