I GIVE UP

Those 3 words have never been in my vocabulary. I have always set out to accomplish something and not stopped until I did just that. I have major issues with failure, rejection, etc. Most people do. I get that. My dad always told me that good things come to those who wait. He would follow it up with, “You can’t sit back and wait for everything though…” Of course, as a kid, that confused the heck out of me. The older I get, the more I slowly start to understand this. Slowly being the key word.

Since being accepted to take part on the World Race, I have struggled with failure, rejections, humility, and several other things.

FailureFailure to meet my first deadline. Failure to send out letters that were successful in getting a response. Failure to see that I was on the wrong route.

Rejection

I sent out so many Facebook messages, support letters, text messages, Twitter and Facebook posts and got 0 responses from these. Yes, people “LIKED” my posts, but when I would message them to tell them about my race, I got either 1) no response, or 2) negative response.

Humility

Wow…people that I thought would support me financially, through prayer, through encouragement…told me what I was doing was wrong or that I should stay in the US and do those things. I was laughed at, hung up on, letters returned, etc. I learned what it feels like to be humiliated.

Acts 20:19 ESV

Serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me…

That verse is what changed my outlook. In order to serve the Lord, humility, rejection, and failure are all part of it. We have to be humbled to serve the Lord.

So, I GIVE UP. I am giving it all over to the Lord and I know he will provide. He is in control.
