I want to share a bit of my journey with experiencing God as a lover.

For the past six months or so, God and I have been reading through Song of Solomon and writing to each other in the margins. I consider them to be our love letters.

The other day, I opened to a passage that I had previously gone over extensively and sensed that God wanted He and I to write our own love letters to each other. So, we wrote back and forth in my journal. As I looked at what God wrote, I was amazed at the depth of His love, but I also had thoughts of, “Yeah, but God, you love everyone the same so how can I really feel that passion of a committed lover?”

Today, as I was pondering more of Song of Solomon, it became very clear to me that God loves us as individuals. HELLO! There is no one else like ME and there is no one else like YOU! There is no one that could look like me or act like me completely. There is no one else hat could fulfill the calling that God has placed on my life. So, it stands to reason that God loves us in different ways and has special places in His heart for each one of us. No one else could fill those places in His heart or respond to Him the way you or I do!

Take heart today: “My dove, my perfect one, is unique.” Song of Songs (Solomon) 6:9a
