Royal Law- Love one another, just as I have loved you.
Life is not always Nepali tea and cookies. I lived in a house with 11 other World Racers, a family of 4, and 2 church members that served our teams each day. It was not always easy living in a house with 17 other people, but it was a common, everyday experience to not always have things exactly your way.
I continue to learn Royal Law every day. We must choose love and choose joy each day.
Nepal entered the rainy season upon our arrival. I have walked in the rain almost everyday since July 5. A rain jacket is a necessity, but an umbrella might prove to be a better accessory. Did you know that when you’re sporting a rain jacket and walk down the street in a heavy rain storm, the rain will drip off your jacket onto your pants? Who knew?!?! If you continue to walk miles upon miles to your destination, I’m here to tell you that your pants will be soaked. Choose LOVE. You will not be happy, but the blessings you receive from each other and those around you, will affect you more than damp pants.
When you wake up at 5:45AM to walk to the hotel for wifi at 6, and your plans for the day suddenly change as you open the gate to walk out, choose LOVE and JOY. God places us exactly where we are supposed to be. We may be content or uncomfortable, but we have a choice to make.
Nepal has been a challenging first month. The first week was a struggle to adapt to the new culture, lifestyle, and first world female rights being revoked. Honestly, I hated wearing the punjabi. I chose to respect the culture. The second week I was not 100% present, as my mom had cancer removed from her colon. My team members chose to pour love and joy over my heart. The past two weeks, I have chosen to love the people, respect the culture, and choose joy in my team differences.
Praise Jesus that I heard the whisper and decided to follow this calling! Many days I feel like I’ve lost my marbles and have no direction for the future. God has a plan for me and each day he is molding my heart to be more like his.
In our society, what we do defines who we are. Yet it doesn’t work that way in the kingdom. God is always first about identity and then destiny. Each day is a choice. Choose to LOVE. Choose Joy.
I was content and happy. And it wasn’t until I was content with the ordinary that God opened the door to the extraordinary. (Insert The World Race)
